I knew from half-way in that the writer would be drawing parallels of the Spanish "experience" with our own, here in the USA.

We do have one thing in our favor, maybe two: that we do carry forth in our national ethos some remnant and memory (however vague, for many) of our Founding spirit. We know who we were;

the other thing is that our domestic enemies are incredibly stupid. What kind of adversary would deliberately lock us down in our homes during a fake health scare, when our only source of entertainment and information was the internet? Day in and day out: the internet, where the curious-minded among us had access to all the data we needed to combat the evil machinations of our tormentors and their "science." The players left themselves open to premature discovery. Pity them.

And we have not forgotten who we are.
